Communication Skills

Our Communication Skills program continues the lessons learned in STV. Participants who are comfortable with using the individual skills we teach, and who are interested, can focus on a more nuanced and deeper level of listening and communication.

This group engages participants through

  • Mindfulness
  • Emotional Literacy
  • Non-violent Communication
  • Active Listening
  • Lively peer-to-peer encouragement

The curriculum centers around a number of books written by doctors, therapists and communications experts. Each week a new section is read and discussed in group, where participants share experiences and opinions, practice skills and contribute to each other's learning.

We are proud that both our programs are led by facilitators who include former participants and mental health professionals alike.

These individuals donate their time to this work with care, dedication and understanding that comes from long experience and focused effort.
