Founded in 1981, Men Evolving Non-Violently (M.E.N.) emerged from a desire to change the mythology that all abusers are bad men. Our founders believed that many abusive men are "good men behaving badly" who want to
change their abusive patterns.
M.E.N. exists to provide training in both behavior regulation and communication to individuals who wish to end their violent and abusive behavior toward their spouses, loved ones, friends and colleagues.
We offer two programs for men, depending on where they are in their process:
STV, or Stop the Violence, begins our work building a foundation of skills centered on ending violent or abusive behavior before it starts.
Our Skills program focuses on more nuanced communication
between us and our families, friends and colleagues.
We are proud that both our programs are led by facilitators who include former participants and mental health professionals alike.
These individuals donate their time to this work with care, dedication and understanding that comes from long experience and focused effort.
